| Ashlee - Secretary My Name is Ashlee-Jayde and I'm from Melbourne Victoria. I am a young proud Aboriginal girl. My dad is Aboriginal and my mum is Australian. I am from the Yorta Yorta Tribe. I recently finished my Year 12 and completed my VCE at Northlands Secondary Collage and am now working at Maya Healing Centre as Administration Assistant 3 days per week. I have been living in Melbourne my whole life and enjoy being a part of the Aboriginal community in Melbourne. I am very family orientated and I like to be surrounded by my friends and family all the time as they are the people that mean the most to me. I hope to one day work in with young Aboriginal people in the Juvenile Justice system. I want to help our young Indigenous youths but also become involved in the Juvenile Justice system in the future so I can help make a difference in the community. I am strong willed and determined but am also very concerned about the future of Aboriginal culture if we don't find solutions for the problems affecting our youths in the community. The koori youths are the future of our people and if we can't help them then it will be hard to for the Aboriginal people to survive as a strong proud race. |

John Sheppard - Office Manager John has been heavily involved with the Indigenous community for almost 20 years. John became connected through Galiamble recovery centre in St. Kilda and is heavily indebted to the former managers of that centre, Lester Green and Richard Ambrose, two fine men who left their impact on him and introduced him to the real values of Aboriginal culture. John worked at Galiamble for many years and managed the centre for some years after Richards passing. John switched to Maya in the early days of it's development because he recognised the value of healing centres and the cultural and holistic approach to healing that Maya was striving to achieve. |
